Smoke Eraser vs Smoke Trap+: Which Sploof Is Actually Longest-Lasting?

Smoke Trap+ calls itself "industry leading" and "longest lasting." Those are interesting words to choose. Here's what their product actually delivers.

How Smoke Trap+ Works

Smoke Trap+ has a prefilter screen and a replaceable HEPA+carbon filter cartridge. The outer unit is reusable. The filter is not. When it wears out, you replace it.

Worth noting: the prefilter screen Smoke Trap uses was actually developed by Smoke Eraser. It's half of the 2-piece prefilter system we developed in 2018. We actually built this category they're claiming to lead.

How Smoke Eraser Works

Smoke Eraser has a removable prefilter that limits moisture and resin from reaching the HEPA filter. That single difference is why it outlasts everything else. Light to average users may never even clog it.

We also offer options no other brand does — a removable prefilter you can clean, and an optional Docking Station that dries the HEPA filter overnight. None of it is required. It's just there for anyone who wants to push lifespan further.

"Longest Lasting" vs Actually Longest Lasting

Smoke Trap+ has a prefilter screen which is a step up from brands with nothing. But their HEPA filter still wears out significantly faster than ours (various reasons). On that note, what gives Smoke Eraser its longevity actually goes far beyond any single component — but these are details we've learned to keep to ourselves. What I will say though is even with our "borrowed" prefilter screen, the Smoke Trap simply doesn't compare to the longevity of Smoke Eraser... And that's a unit half their size.

Cost Over Time

Smoke Eraser is comparably priced but Smoke Trap's replacement filters are a recurring cost. Bottom line, since we last longer, we're obviously the more cost-efficient over time.

Size

Smoke Eraser is roughly half the size of most competitors. More portable, easier to use discreetly.

FAQs

Does Smoke Trap+ have a HEPA filter?

Yes. HEPA+carbon inside a replaceable cartridge.

Can you clean the Smoke Trap filter?

No. It's designed for replacement.

Is Smoke Eraser actually longer lasting than Smoke Trap+?

Yes. Smoke Eraser outlasts Smoke Trap+ and every other brand on the market. We developed the prefilter concept that protects HEPA filters from premature failure. Smoke Trap+ uses a partial version of it with results that are not surprising to us.

Does Smoke Trap+ have a Docking Station?

No. Nothing like it exists in their lineup.

Which is more cost-efficient?

Smoke Eraser. The cost of each is comparable upfront, while we're more cost-efficient over time as we simply last longer.

Which sploof has the best reviews?

I cannot speak to their reviews, but Smoke Eraser has well over 2k verified positive reviews across the internet.
